Appoints Libby Curtis Webb to Senior Vice President of Product
Boston, MA, August 15, 2017 - ZappRx, a healthcare technology company that reduces the administrative burden associated with prescribing specialty medications, today announced the hiring of Libby Curtis Webb to Senior Vice President of Product. In this new role, Webb will lead ZappRx’s Product, Technology, and Marketing teams as the company scales and expands its portfolio of service offerings. This news comes after ZappRx recently announced implementations at its first three academic medical centers and large clinical sites, including Tufts Medical Center, Arizona Pulmonary Specialists, and Harbor-UCLA. The company also announced a Series B fundraise in April 2017.
Before joining ZappRx, Webb served as SVP of Product at Copatient, a health technology company designed to help consumers manage and negotiate their medical bills. Prior to that she served as Executive Director of Product Management for athenaCollector, where she guided athenahealth's flagship revenue cycle management service to address healthcare system challenges resulting from the rise in patient financial responsibility. Webb also served as Director of Product Management for athenaCommunicator, where she scaled and matured athenahealth's premier patient engagement solution, ranked as one of the top patient portals by the KLAS rating service.
Webb will extend the ZappRx product portfolio and overall service offerings, including its data product. Targeting release in early 2018, the data product will offer biopharma companies and insurance payers unique insights into the thought processes of prescribers and the performance of specialty drug therapies, to help them develop a deeper understanding of which brands are being prescribed, why, how often, when, and where.
“ZappRx is revolutionizing the archaic, confusing and inefficient process for getting specialty medications to patients in their greatest time of need,” said Libby Curtis Webb, SVP of Product. “I am honored to lead ZappRx’s Product and Technology teams as we deliver on our goal to enable healthcare providers to focus on patient care, rather than on administrative overhead due to the specialty drug prescribing process.”
“Webb has devoted her career to developing innovative technology solutions that improve our nation’s healthcare system. She’s a thought leader in the space, a product expert, and passionate about fixing healthcare,” said Zoë Barry, Founder and CEO of ZappRx. “I met Webb a few years ago, and always hoped to work together. I’m glad the timing is right — Webb is bringing a tremendous amount of technology leadership to ZappRx.”
ZappRx streamlines the complex process required to order specialty medications, increasing efficiencies when collecting and maintaining the myriad requisite information for specialty prescribing — including pharmacy information, payer/prior authorization requirements, and relevant clinical history. ZappRx then enables providers, pharmacists, and payers to digitally interact with one another to fill a prescription, reducing the need for faxes and phone calls. The platform is currently live in three disease areas, including Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), and Cystic Fibrosis, with plans to expand to support prescribing for other areas, including gastroenterology, rheumatology, neurology, and oncology conditions.
