ZappRx Hires Industry Leader to Drive Commercial Growth

Boston, MA, April 27, 2016 – ZappRx (zapprx.com), a digital specialty prescribing platform focused on increasing efficient patient access to therapy, today announced the hiring of Lorrie Carr as Chief Commercial Officer. Carr previously served as Divisional VP, Enterprise Specialty Sales & Product Management at Walgreens and has held leadership roles in Global Market Access, Sales and Marketing within pharmaceutical companies Millennium Pharmaceuticals (now Takeda Oncology) and Schering-Plough (now Merck).

 

In this newly-created role, Carr will lead the company’s commercialization efforts as it launches and expands its platform for prescribing and managing specialty drugs into multiple specialty therapeutic areas.

U.S. spending on prescription drugs is projected to reach $400B by the year 2020. Specialty drugs, represent less than 2% of prescriptions written but account for almost 40% of drug spending. The process of getting a drug from prescription to patient is cumbersome for all key stakeholders and ultimately delays patient access to critical therapy. Existing attempts to improve upon this process remain largely manual, fragmented, and suffer from poor provider adoption.
