Cambridge, MA, September 9, 2015 – Zoë Barry, Founder and CEO of ZappRx, the leading mobile platform that automates specialty drug prescription management for patients, physicians and pharmacists, has been named to Boston Business Journal’s prestigious 40 under 40 list. This year’s list focuses on business and civic leaders who are making a major impact in the community while also improving the civic health of the Boston area through volunteer work and other forms of philanthropy.
A panel of editors from the Boston Business Journal reviewed over 375 nominations this year. Key factors in choosing honorees were professional accomplishments and civic engagement. This year's 40 Under 40 class is the 18th since the Business Journal launched the program in 1998 and represents a wide variety of industry sectors.
Recently named to Inc. Magazine’s 30 under 30 list and as NEVY Award’s Rising Star in Healthcare, Barry is the sole founder and CEO of ZappRx, a digital health services company that transforms the way specialty medications are managed. With ZappRx, patients, physicians and pharmacists are each engaged via a secure and collaborative online platform that improves the patient's access to treatment and makes it possible to deliver medicine faster, with fewer hassles and greater transparency.
Zoe launched the company in 2012 after realizing the inefficiencies in e-prescribing. Since then, Zoe has raised over $10m in capital from leading investors, such as Atlas Venture and SR One, the venture arm of GlaxoSmithKline, and has worked to build ZappRx from the ground up. ZappRx is experiencing more than expected market interest, and has grown exponentially to be a team of nearly two dozen.
“In selecting Boston's best and brightest young professionals, we are celebrating the local people who are achievers, innovators and civic leaders in their respective fields,” said Gale Murray, publisher of the Boston Business Journal. “This year's class of 40 Under 40 reflects the mix of brains and passion that makes Boston a business powerhouse.”
