ZappRx, a digital health company that reduces the administrative burden associated with prescribing specialty medications, announced today that Julia Austin has joined its Board of Directors. Over the past several years, Austin has successfully led large organizations in technical positions, and partnered with entrepreneurs to help start and scale technology companies. As a member of its Board, Austin will provide leadership coaching to ZappRx with a focus on engineering, process, staffing, and functional operations.
“I met Julia because I happened to sit next to her on a plane two years ago. She took me under her wing, and has spent the last two years mentoring me. Julia has scaled multiple tech organizations and has been instrumental in coaching me on how to be a better entrepreneur and bring ZappRx into its next phase. In particular, Julia has given me the framework to lead a high caliber tech team, and implement scalable processes in an organization that I built from scratch. I couldn’t be more thrilled to add Julia to the ZappRx Board of Directors" said Zoë Barry, CEO and Founder of ZappRx.
“I was inspired by ZappRx’s mission to improve outcomes for very sick patients and by Zoë’s innate ability to develop a great product, scale a team, and build an amazing company,” said Julia Austin, CTO of Digital Ocean. “I’m honored to join such an esteemed group of board members and contribute my expertise toward the continued growth and success of the company.”
Austin currently serves as the CTO at DigitalOcean, where she leads product and engineering for one of the fastest growing developer-focused cloud computing platforms. She is also an active advisor and investor to early stage companies, and faculty member at Harvard Business School where she teaches Product Management. She was previously with VMware for eight years, where she managed the expansion of the engineering organization; from launching their first non-CA-based engineering site in Cambridge, MA, to leading all of VMware's Global R&D initiatives and eventually serving as Vice President of Innovation at VMware. Prior to VMware, Julia was the VP of Engineering at Akamai.
ZappRx is modernizing and simplifying the way specialty medications are managed. The company provides a secure, collaborative online platform that allows patients, physicians and pharmacists to work together to improve patients’ access to treatment, delivering medicine faster, with fewer hassles and greater transparency.
